Howdy everyone! This is the official UMKULO Blog. For those of you who are new or want to hear a little more about who we are and what we do…

What is this blog about?

The UMKULO Project is a non-profit organization being formed from the ground up by a bunch of college students and recent grads in Nashville, Tennessee. We want you to be able to follow along and take part in our self-discoveries, speed bumps, and successes. Take a look around. Do some digging. Find out who we are and what we’re doing and then contact us! We’d love to hear from you!

We’ve got dreams and we’re going after them! This blog is the best way to let you in on the inner workings of The UMKULO Project. You can get to know us and what exactly we’re doing on a weekly basis. We just want to give anyone who is interested the unique opportunity to watch us evolve, offer your perspective and advice, and be part of our growth from an idea into a functioning international non-profit organization.

We’re still creating a website and blogs are free, so this is our first (and currently only) online presence.  Once we do get an official website, this will continue to act as our blog, but most of the content on this site will be moved to there.

There are currently three of us who are taking on a majority of the work and we’ll be updating the blog twice a week. Chris will write on Sundays about what logistically The UMKULO Project has been up to in the previous week. Lauren will write on Thursdays offering a reflective story about the past 7 days. Adam will pitch in his thoughts every few weeks as to what he’s observed in our development and how our progress is looking in the grand scheme of things.

A special thanks to…

  • Austin Sauerbrei for creating the UMKULO Logo
  • Jeff Venable for producing the beautiful UMKULO Video
  • Julian Winsor who is currently designing the UMKULO Website
  • Christy Ridings who is acting as a spiritual mentor

…It takes a whole village and we couldn’t do what we do without the generosity from great people with extraordinary gifts. So, thank you!

Welcome to The UMKULO World! You are now a part of it so don’t be shy! The more help we can get from random people out there, the more successful we will be, and the more children in Africa will receive a music education that can carry them out of poverty!

Thank you and God bless!
